My Thoughts

This is not a book review site - it started that way, I conceptualise this blog that way but I found that I can't separate my feelings from my writings. I can't be objective about a book.

Reading has been my main hobby cultivated for almost 4 decades. I read for pleasure and experience. This blog is where I pour my thoughts and feelings in that experience.

By Melanie Moreland It Started with a Kiss (Insta-Spark Collection, #1)It Started with a Kiss by Melanie Moreland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A bit predictable. The first few chapters of this book will tell you of the eventual outcome, the girl gets the boy and they live happily every after. You would also discern that it might be an unlikely match but perfect nonetheless. But that’s what we want as readers who would pick up this kind of books. You would like to read on because you know there are juicy details albeit, mushy sometimes.
There are a lot of intimate scenes between the main characters and I thought, this whole book is centred to both of them. A few external forces and outside relationships and social interactions are peppered in, such in-laws, parents and a best friend. This book has the quintessential elements and characters of a family-oriented story.
It also has a bitter sweet scene which for me is highly relevant to a successful love story. There has to be some suffering in the midst of the lovey-dovey scenes.
This book will leave you highly satisfied especially the ending, it is extended to the max.

Kiss the Frog (Princes of Danislova #1)Kiss the Frog by Alice Gaines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was categorised under New Adult. I am not really sure what exactly New Adult means but I reckon, it's not this book. It has a lot of steamy scenes that it is borderline to erotic.

Okay, onto the book. This a feel good read. It's not too long. Dev is just an admirable character. Well, all of the Royal family are. It's unreal not that I am familiar with the lives of the royalty. I suppose, they are just like normal people.

The character of the parents of Felice made me like her even more. She is very understanding and forgiving. And I suppose, resigned that she will not be the number one priority. But it is fine as she found a new family in Dev's.

I like Fredriech. I'd like to read his story with Marta soon.

By Clarice Winter.  The first book in the Spring Valley River series.

This is a very simple story.  I would have loved to read some emotions in the breakup of Harper and Brad.  I admit, I am a sucker for not only romantic stories but stories that tug to your heart.  Not because you have been through what the main characters have been but because, the author has written it so good that you feel it.

For me, what makes this book different from the others with similar plot is that, Brad's parents get to have more dialogue in the book than Brad.  I would really like to read more of Brad and what's up with him - what his struggle is, why would he say that he is broken and he is trying to heal.

There are some funny parts though.  The discussion between Harper and Audrey are good.  I laughed a couple of times.

All in all, not so bad for a very short story.  I'd give it 3 stars.

I'd be tempted to buy the other books in the series but I have so many books to go through.

This book didn't start happy.  I detest book that have cheating on it that hurt the other person.  It's just not on.

But then, the love story seems to have started before the lady got married and got cheated on.  She met a guy, had a one night-stand and got pregnant.  They only know each other as Alexis and Blake.

Fast forward, Alexis moved to NY and worked in a design company.  Her first client was Blake.  Convenient, isn't it.  I was actually expecting that her boss was Blake.  It seems to be the most common plot.

Anyway, the story is a bit predictable and a little bit on the fairy tale / impossible genre but entertaining nonetheless.

I'd give it 3 stars.
by Katie Evans.

I finished the series this week.  I discover the first book around April or May this year accidentally.  I was reading a book in an online site and the Manwhore title came up.  I didn't really click on it straight away as the title didn't endear to me.  But after reading the book I wondered why didn't I click on it sooner.

The whole series is a simple story.  Billionaire boy met the not so quite poor girl.  But the books are so well written that the details just get into you.

It is written in the POV of Rachel and I would have loved to read a book written in the POV of Malcolm.

I can't quite explain how I feel about the book but all I can say is, it's all worth the wait and money.  Didn't I say that I bought the other two books on the day that they were released in the US

Grace GrowsGrace Grows by Shelle Sumners
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my most favourite book. I almost memorise the sequence of events. I feel like Grace and Tyler are part of my life. I read this book several times already and I can’t get enough of it. I am wondering why Shelle Sumners hasn’t written another book. Why?

I love Tyler in this book though, he should have his own perspective. He seems to be the embodiment of my modern day hero. And Grace, well, she’s just like any of us. With enough guts but with enough insecurities.

I thought, if Tyler was as decisive when he was chasing Grace as he was when he booked their City Hall appointment, there wouldn't be any problem at all. But then the story would be over too soon. I love that Tyler indulges Grace a bit. It makes you feel more loved.

There are just enough quirks in this book; Tyler’s parents, Grace’s dad and Mum, Ty’s sister and Grace’s friend, Edward.

From what I understand, this book is titled differently in other countries. By the way, the title is so apt in what happened to Grace.

By Colleen Hoover

Another Colleen Hoover heart-tugging, heart-wrenching book. I love the ending, of course or I wouldn’t read it till the last chapter.

What I don’t get in the story is the violence. I have mixed emotions and attitude towards domestic violence especially in those cases where it has continually been happening. But who am I to pass judgement or comment on it? I feel for the victim but I especially laud those who managed to walk out of it and free themselves sooner rather than later. I reckon death was so unnecessary in the story to bring the point across. I just hate unnecessary evil even if it’s in stories only – doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen in real life though. But that’s the point. We are already bombarded with all the gruesome news and events every day. Why taint a seemly innocent and lovely story. But, it’s not my book so to say.

It’s sad and bitter-sweet for Tate, I suppose. There are a lot of emotions running high and low in the story and I am just glad that the ending was quite good.

Books like this gives me lots of “what-ifs”. What if Maria is alive? Of course, there’s no story.

This is still a good read.

I read one of the reviews for this book and was compared to another book about strong, dominant main male character.  Frankly, it gives me prejudices.  I can’t stop comparing Clayton to the lead character in the other book.

But to give the author credit, it is vastly entertaining and yes, I am waiting for the next book.  The cover makes you want to go to Maldives.

Yes, Clayton is one of my favourite lead characters in books that I’ve read so far.  Though, with him staying in Maldives doesn’t make sense.  Why can’t he go with her?  Now look what happened.  She found something and her imagination go overdrive and they broke up unnecessarily, I reckon.  Because I am sure they will be reunited.  I suppose, they have to breakup for the book 2 to be exciting.  Lol.

I’d recommend this one if you’re looking for a light reading on a plane.
